First Block

I am working on a quilt by Moda called Basket Bounty and this is the first block. I love it and am using triangulations to make those half-square triangles come out so well. Love that. Also there will be wool flowers and leaves appliqued to this block which I can't wait to work on. Hopefully I can do a good job.

Got into the fall mood today I guess you'd say, and baked an apple pie~ Of course, then I had to quick call the hubby and ask him to pick up ice cream before he came home. I mean, what's apple pie without ice cream. It was nummy!!!

Sunshiny Fall Day!

Have spent most of this beautiful day on the deck enjoying a great read (Jennifer Chiaverini) and feeling so thankful for the sunshine, not wanting to miss a minute of the peace and quiet of it. During my time there, a little excitement occurred to interrupt my reverie, and I tried to download some pictures which would explain. Anyway, the neighboring kitty loves to come to our yard, isn't afraid of our dogs (of course, they can't get to her but they ake their presence known). The kitty didn't appear to hear them either, completely ignoring them as she lay in the ground cover plants, rubbing her back in the soil and loving the sunshine as much as me. We all get our kicks in different ways!

Hi Everyone...it has been over a year since I have posted on my blog. Wow how time flies. Life hasn't changed too much...except I'm a year older. But I have continued to quilt, knit, and read and enjoy my hobbies to the fullest. Introducing Kimberly Einmo, International Quilt Teacher~ She came to our quilt store and taught two classes, one on Friday and one on Saturday. First a mystery quilt class and then a jelly roll quilt class. It was amazing and such fun and I learned so much! She's a wonderful teacher and a sweet lady!

Not much sewing today...

I spent most of the morning reading, and then worked a little on my first Civil War Block for this month (there are five to do in all). I walked the dogs but that's about all. Watched TV and ate! Not a good thing! I just felt tired today so nothing really was interesting, just needed to veg I guess! Hopefully tomorrow will be better! More stimulating! Let's hope so!!! I am really pleased and excited with this finished quilt top for the 2009 Thimbleberries project~ I love it! And I love that I embroidered those small blocks that came preprinted with the kit! Isn't it nice when you like your finished projects, especially those that took a long time to do?! Yes it is!

Hello all, I am doing better so wanted to just send a special hello to everyone and thank you for the sweet comments left on my blog during my absence! I appreciated every one! I was in the hospital a week because of a blood clot on my lung and leg. So now I just have to keep my blood count regulated by being watched at the antico clinic here. My levels are good now. So all is well. I have been sewing a little the last couple of days and will have pics to show for it soon!! Thanks again to all!

This is Mrs. Quilty's youngest daughter and I wanted to post a quick note to let everyone know that my mom is in the hospital and could use some good thoughts and wishes from blogger friends. She went in earlier this week when a scan detected a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lung) and a clot in her leg, both of which occurred as a result of her COPD. She gave us a good scare, but is actually doing just fine now. She will be in the hospital for a minimum of 4 - 5 days, and her doctor told her that her greatest risk at this point is boredom. However, her hubby brought her several sewing projects to work on, and she's watching the Olympics in her room, so she is doing ok so far. Please keep her in your thoughts, and she should be back here posting very soon!

Something New Every Day!

Well, I went to exercise today and it hurt! Doesn't it always? Not the usual though...on/in my right heel! Facshiatis or whatever that it. Anyways, I did the tread mill and it hurt and then the pulmonary expert there showed me a couple exercises to s-t-r-e-t-c-h that heel and wow, I could feel it way up the back of my knee! Ouch!! So in order to get rid of that, I'll have to do those exercises a few times (or more) a day! Hope I can stay committed to that, but gosh, I bet I will, it hurts going up and down the stairs and our house is full of them~! Lovely!

Exciting Friday Night!

We spent this last Friday evening in the ER at the hospital across the street as I was having trouble breathing, my chest hurt, and I had another fainting spell (hadn't done that since Nov 3). Plus I have been experiencing the pains of a bladder infection, something all you ladies are familiar with, for a few months. So off we went to get things checked out. After a respiratory treatment, a chest x-ray, an EKG and a urine test, I was sent off with antibiotics, and a high dose of prednisone for 4 days. Blah, Blah, Blah! It's just part of my life, with living with COPD and I'm blessed not to have gotten any kind of infection this winter, but it can surely be a drag sometimes! Thank God for my sewing corner!! It helps me out every time!

All day today I worked on this block. That's because the first time I thought it was finished, I took a second look and something wasn't right. I had two dark blues next to each other. So, after thinking how I would always see that mistake in the completed quilt, I got out my seam ripper and with tears in my eyes and frustration in my heart,I laboriously but lovingly, put it together properly. I do love the result! What do you think?

New Fabrics

One of the fun things I did while visiting my kids and grandkids was they took me birthday shopping (where else, at a quilt store) and let me pick out a whole bunch of civil war reproduction prints for my civil war club project. What fun was that? So I'm be going to class with lots of new fabrics for the other gals to be jealous of....and here's a pic of them...Hope you can see it good enough!

The Professional Bag Class

Introducing, the Professional Bag! This was a class offered at my quilt shoppe and it took us up to 6 hours to prepare for the class (cutting out pieces of fabric, of lining and of interfacing). Then we spent two days at the shoppe, each day about 6 hours. to finish the bag. As you can see, there is a pocket on each side of the bag, with a drawstring to gather the top of it. Perfect for a water bottle, or baby bottle, depending. It also has many pockets on the inside which I will post so you can see. It is absolutely beautiful and I just love it. It was lots of fun to see each gal's creation as we all chose different colors. Mine is all Thimbleberries fabric, using blues and greens, with birdies on it. I thought it would look nice with jeans, but it'll work with anything really. It is amazing, and I really can't believe I made it! Yeah for me! Am I bragging a little? Yes! I am so tired after two days of sewing, my sweet hubby took me out for Mexican dinner when I was all done! He's impressed!

I know, I'm really lagging behind in blogging.....have been very busy sewing up a storm and yesterday I finished a certain project for a certain person for Christmas and sent it off to the quilter....whew! Well, today Elijah Paul Thrush was born at 10:54 a.m. 8 lb. 8 oz, 21 inches long! My new grandson! Isaac's brother!! My two grandsons! Wow, I am elated and ecstatic and excited! We will see him in a few weeks! I will try and share pics as they come!!! He is healthy and gorgeous and wonderful!!! As is Mommy!

Oh dear, it's been over a week since I've posted anything...well, I've spent quite a bit of time at doctor's offices....for my COPD...had a couple CT scans...never ends. Have been working on projects for my three clubs, and will share pics soon. Also have been working on a baby quilt, or two actually, for my coming-any-minute new grandchild. He/she is due Nov. 11 but the doc said baby won't be waiting that long probably....so made a top for a boy that's is ready to quilt, and am now working on a girl quilt.....it'll be so exciting to find out what it is, huh! But makes for difficulty when it comes to making a quilt. I did go to a fabulously fun Sew In at my local quilt store on Halloween. We took whatever we wanted to work on and every hour on the hour, they had a special on notions, or patterns, and at the end of the evening, it was 40% of anything in the store (except sewing machines). So everyone went wild. It was so fun. I also won a little carrier thingy to put notions in that is adorable. I was there about 5 hours! So that's what I've been up to lately and enjoying the last days of sunshine!!! Have a great day everyone!

I received these wonderful items from Heidi in Arizona a few weeks ago for the Friendship Swap and somehow I didn't get it posted! Not because I didn't love it, that's for sure....time just got away from me. But isn't this little purse adorable? and a matching charm pack and her card to me even matched it all!!
